
About Miku Arizono
The pianist and composer Miku ARIZONO was born in Tokyo, Japan.
She is a prize winner of several national and international competitions and performs as a pianist in Germany, in various European countries and in Japan.
Until March 2017, she completed her Bachelor's degree with Professor Shinji URAKABE (piano) and studied composition as a minor subject with composer Masa MATSUURA at the Senzoku Gakuen College of Music in Japan.
From 2019 to 2021, she completed her Master's degree at the Freiburg University of Music, graduating with top honors. This was followed by a concert exam program with Prof. Gilead Mishory (Freiburg University of Music), which she completed with highest marks in spring 2023. During her studies, she also received chamber music instruction from Prof. Roglit Ishay and Prof. Sylvie Altenburger.
She then continued her studies at the Zurich University of the Arts in the Master Specialized Music Performance Soloist program under Professor Till Fellner and completed her studies in the summer of 2025.
In 2020, she won First Prize and the Special Prize for the performance of a composition written after 1900 at the Livorno International Piano Competition in Italy. In 2019, she won Third Prize and the Special Prize for the performance of a composition written after 2000 at the 8th Arthur Lepthien Piano Competition, and in 2015, Second Prize at the 16th International Chopin Piano Competition in Asia. She also received First Prize at the Duttweiler-Hug Competition at the Zurich University of the Arts in 2024.
She is also a scholarship recipient of the Dr. Leo Ricker Foundation and the Helene Rosenberg Foundation in 2020.
She attended masterclasses with renowned teachers such as Carmen PIAZZINI, Klaus HELLWIG, Pierre-Laurent AIMARD, Vera GORNOSTAYEVA, Nina TICHMAN, Konrad ELSER, Piotr PALECZNY, Gerald FAUTH, Claudio Martínez MEHNER and Antti SIIRALA.
In 2020, she recorded her first CD with the company 2R Studio Produzioni Multimediali in the studio of Yamaha Music Europe GmbH/Section Italy (with works by C. Franck, R. Wagner= F. Liszt, S. Barber and one of her own works), which has been published via various digital platforms.
In addition to her active concert career as a soloist and in ensembles, she also teaches piano at the TYTH music school in Lörrach.
In addition, she performs as a freely improvising pianist with Butoh dancers and dance ensembles (L. Betz, M. Tominaga, J. Laage), thereby deepening her creativity and musical flexibility.
